Being part of the BEATS awards is a highlight of our local social calendar. We are really impressed with the professionalism of the organizers and the way it is growing. We are thrilled to be sponsors for this years awards.
Silver Sponsor and Service Provider
See what Graham Mckenzie from Southern Cross Austereo had to say about coming on board as a 2016 Sponsor ..the fourth year in a row!
We were even mentioned in parliament!
It was fantastic to attend the Business Excellence Awards Tweed Shire, or (BEATS), on Saturday night. Our local small businesses are the heart of the local economy and our communities, and the BEATS was a magnificent celebration of all they have to offer. Around 200 people gathered at the Murwillumbah Civic and Cultural Centre for the sold-out gala night, which saw finalists across 18 categories go head-to-head for the respective titles.
Congratulations to all the winners and the nominees especially, especially to the winner of the award for best community or social service non-profit organisation, which was Tweed Palliative Support, who also won the award for best overall business. Thanks also to the many sponsors and for the general community support for this event. I would like to acknowledge the organisers Toni Zuschke and the Natascha Wernick, both of whom did an outstanding job again in showcasing the local business community and arranging a truly magnificent evening.
it is also important to note that all of the produce and businesses sourced for this event are from the Tweed Shire. Special mention must go to Jonathan, Mel and all the team from Ju Ju’s restaurant, who provided the outstanding three course meal for the event. Also, the performers were just fantastic, especially local superstar 17-year-old Nina Baumer, who recently appeared on the TV show The voice. She was remarkable. Congratulations to all of the businesses that were nominated and acknowledged for their excellence in a range of fields at the BEATS. It was a great occasion to showcase the great diversity of businesses that we have right throughout the Tweed Shire and indeed right throughout the North Coast of New South Wales.

“Just a note to advise that Keven Pile, Workcover Senior Inspector, Regional Services North, Work Health and Safety Division based in Dubbo conducted an interview this week.
On his drive up he also conducted another interview in Glen Innes.
He was very interested in how we conduct our business, maintain our record and our utilization of technology in what I regard as normal business procedure.
I have taken a followup call today from him to clarify some details so it will be very interesting to see how our business rates against other participants.
We really appreciate the huge input of time, resources and dedication that you and Toni devote to ensuring that the BUSINESS EXCELLENCE AWARDS TWEED SHIRE continues it’s success.
Thank you so much for providing Neil Baker Earthworks the terrific opportunity to compete in the State Awards.”

Winner 2013 of the Best Event in the Tweed Award
Kathmandu Kitchen has won many awards over the years, mostly from Restaurant and Catering, and even been National finalists twice, having been judged by hospitality professionals, however, this local award means so much more to us as it places us firmly in the hearts of the local community.
We have been super busy since the news of our win broke, and we can only put it down to the marvelous response to our award. I think that winning in the Tweed Shire just has so much more impact on the local population, it is in a way a validation of their own favourite businesses.
When i have a minute i am going to Like on Facebook every winner from these awards.

I would like to express my appreciation to you and Natascha for the wonderful night last Saturday. I thought the overall presentation, organisation and entertainment was excellent, and I acknowledge the hard work of you and your team to deliver such a professional result. From speaking with Barry, Troy and Mark I know they enjoyed themselves and were also impressed with the event. Please pass on our thanks to your helpers and to the Tweed Chambers involved.

It has been a real honour being a finalist in five of the categories in the BEATS awards, but of course the biggest honour was winning and receiving the People’s Choice Award. The Billabong Swim School staff and John and I have been so proud, and it was such a great feeling knowing that our customers were happy and wanted to see us receive this recognition for the quality of our program. We also won the Customer Service category and it goes to show that we honestly value what we do. Our teachers genuinely love what they do and care about our children and our parents are important to us as they see the value of swimming lessons not only from the safety aspect, but from the overall development that it gives each child. Our awards are proudly displayed at Billabong and whenever we have a promotion we take them with us to show everyone what we have achieved. It is our proof and evidence of the high caliber of the Billabong Swim School as voted by the members in the Tweed community and our customers. Thanks so much for giving us this opportunity to showcase the quality of what we do!

Being involved with the inaugural BEATS awards last year was a positive move for our business from the start. Filling out the application questionnaire gave our entire team an opportunity to have input in the process, allowing us to reflect and see how much we have evolved and progressed as a business. To me it confirmed the team has ownership and commitment to the Tweed Valley Weekly and our readers.
While the questionnaire went off with our application it had other benefits as well as I was able to use it to obtain a significant government grant to help with a business review and strategic plan.
Winning the award for the Best Local Media Organisation provided everyone in our team with a sense of pride and satisfaction. I have the pleasure of working every day with a skilled and professional group of people and it was wonderful to see their efforts recognised. In a professional sense winning this award means we have obtained more credibility and more leverage for obtaining sales. The award itself sits proudly on our front counter for all to see and a copy of the award certificate is on all our email signatures, our website and other marketing material.
We are proud to come back again in 2014 as the Platinum Sponsor and sponsoring the category of People’s Choice. We are confident that the Murwillumbah Chamber of Commerce will again host another successful event.

When our humble art school Artable in Kingscliff won the BEATS award in 2013, we were a rapidly growing local art school with a strong local following. The prize for winning the Colour in Your Life Best Creative Business Award gave won us a feature on Graeme Stevenson’s Colour in Your Life television show. The show immediately catapulted us into the national and international spotlight. This meant we were able to promote our art workshops with local artists and our international art trips to a much wider market. The Colour In Your Life team are a dream to work with and I have no hesitation in encouraging artists to use them as a means to market yourselves and your art to a wider audience.
Beyond the feature on television, the BEATS award introduced us to the local businesses of the Tweed who have warmly embraced and supported both myself and the work we are doing. It has been a privilege to have been invited to speak about the growing success of Artable at business events and I thank the BEATS team for this incredible opportunity.

What the Daily News said:
Last year, the BEATS awards have Ms Grove the opportunity to promote her business with locally produced TV show Colour In Your Life.
“It was like putting my business on steroids,” Ms Grove said.
“The value of it for us is that we can help the local artists to get work.”
This year, Artable has gotten on board as a BEATS sponsor.
They’re offering the winning creative the opportunity to run a workshop worth $1000.
“I was a little bit invisible before the BEATS awards,” she said.
“Now, I struggle to find enough hours in the day to paint.”

Winning the 2013 BEATS Health, Well-being & Fitness Award for Excellence was a wonderful honour and a fantastic way to unite our team and celebrate 20+ years of serving our community with chiropractic care. The nomination process was a great opportunity to review our progress and business growth, and our winning Award is proudly displayed in our waiting room, office stationary and website. Being part of the BEATS has been a wonderful way to bring the team together, connect with more of the community, and celebrate the value of what we do!

The team at Tango Gelato was thrilled to be nominated in several categories of last year’s BEATS awards, and delighted to be awarded the “Best Retail” award.
