Unlike all other Award categories, The People’s Choice Awards are not judged but decided by popular vote by the public. There are two stages to this process, nominations and voting.
- Nominations
From May 10 – 27 (5pm) anyone can nominate a Tweed Shire business that deserves recognition for their quality product or superior service. Nominees can purchase posters and voting pads to help promote their business
- Voting
From May 27 – June 6 (5pm) the public votes on the top ten nominated businesses. All nominees are eligible for the The People’s Choice Award. The business with the most votes wins!
Only one vote per person, per business irrespective of voting method but you can vote for as many businesses or employees as you like. You can even vote for yourself or your own business.

It has been a real honour being a finalist in five of the categories in the BEATS awards, but of course the biggest honour was winning and receiving the People’s Choice Award. The Billabong Swim School staff and John and I have been so proud, and it was such a great feeling knowing that our customers were happy and wanted to see us receive this recognition for the quality of our program.
